When I signed up again, I tried to click the go back button (back to 1.0) but when I did, it didn't go.
Am I doing something wrong?

You can't. I hate 2.0 too but am stuck. They really need to make it a choice to have whichever you are comfortable with but unfortunately all new accounts get the 2.0 version.

Ok everyone says that you cant go back to profile 1.0 but the truth is that you can i did it today and i was sooo happy because i hate profile 2.0 just do this...
This helped me so much! (:
1. go to your myspace profile. make sure the url looks something like this http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fus鈥?br>
AND NOT
http://www.myspace.com/XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
2. you must add the wording ' %26amp;pe=1 ' to the end of the url at the top of your browser so that it looks like this:
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fus鈥?br>
3. hit enter and you will be redirected to your profile again, this is normal so don't give up yet!
4. go to customize profile and click in the top right hand corner of the screen a link that says 'go back' and you will now be offered a switch to profile 1.0 link! :)
i hope i helped any of you who needed it. i was in a state nearly thinking i was stuck with profile 2.0 after making a new account!

You can't change to 1.0, new accounts made within the last few months are locked and staying on the 2.0
I'm sorry to say that it is impossible now... for you.
